What is SearchAPI

In the most basic terms, SearchAPI is an API designed to help you with your SERP results in Google and Yandex as well as Facebook, Amazon, TikTok and a couple of other platforms. You can check the results of your SEO, better understand your PPC bidding strategy and, my personal favourite(and the way I used it) is check if your pages were affected by the recent fucking GDPR spike in Google search results. Let’s dive deeper in my personal experience.

How to solve a GDPR takedown requests for a page

So, if your marketing strategy includes(or god forbid heavily relies) on users finding your page through Google and you actually know something about SEO the trend of spammy GDPR takedown requests hit you like a hammer recently. They are easy to solve(thank lord), you just have to file a complaint with Google and since they do have some brains they will restore URLs that went missing within a couple of minutes.

But if your site has hundreds or URLs or/and you have multiple sites it is incredibly hard to monitor exactly which pages got taken down. So you either manually go through every page in SERP and check if it has “DMCA claim” on the bottom(ew, boring) or you become “mister engineer”(like I did), get a SearchAPI subscription and make it automatically go through your sitemap and check if each of URLs exist in SERP and whether or not it has a DMCA claim against it. Then you just connected it to Google Docs and send yourself a message every time a new URL becomes missing.

This, of course, is just one of the use-cases but in my opinion it is a really nice example of how a low-cost API can literally save a business.

SearchAPI – good or bad and are there any alternatives

SearchAPI, in my opinion, has one legit competitor with literally the same business model – SERPAPI. Both companies offer literally the same functionality but pricing strategy behind SearchAPI is like a billion times better – for a 100$ your get 10000 lookups but in SERPAPI you only get 3000.

So, with the same functionality (literally) why spend more? Even if you are an active user of a competitor I urge you to switch because it will take 10 minutes of coding or ChatGPT convo and your bill will get divided by 3. Nice, isn’t it? Apart from that, SearchAPI has an MCP integration so if you or your business heavily rely on AI(shame on you, go hire real people) you can easily integrate it into your pipeline.

To sum it all up, if you need anything related to SERP result tracking please, please, please start using SearchAPI. They do offer 20 free tokens(1 token = 1 lookup) if you sign up with my link so be my guest and try them out today!
